Alturas Medical Weight Loss is a physician-led clinic in Meridian, about 15 minutes from downtown Boise.
We offer GLP-1, hormone replacement therapy and peptides to patients across the Treasure Valley. Every plan starts with a medical evaluation, and your dose is reviewed at every follow-up by a clinician who knows your history.

Serving the Entire Treasure Valley
Alturas Medical Weight Loss provides physician-supervised weight loss injections at 1532 W Cayuse Creek Dr, Meridian, ID 83646 — roughly a 15-minute drive from downtown Boise. Our clinic prescribes GLP-1 injection therapy including semaglutide, tirzepatide, Wegovy, Zepbound and Mounjaro, plus metabolic and recovery peptides. Prescriptions follow a medical evaluation with our clinical team, and we run lab work in house when a fuller picture would help. Telehealth appointments are available throughout Idaho. Call (208) 690-2040.
Not every patient needs the same medication, and not every patient needs an injection at all.
What you are prescribed is decided with our clinical team around your history and goals — not picked from a menu.
A GLP-1 receptor agonist that slows gastric emptying and reduces appetite signalling — most patients feel full sooner and stay full longer. A once-weekly injection you administer yourself after we train you.
A dual agonist acting on both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. The dual mechanism often produces greater average weight reduction than a single-agonist GLP-1, though individual response varies.
Brand-name semaglutide, FDA-approved specifically for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or with excess weight and a related condition.
Brand-name tirzepatide, FDA-approved for chronic weight management — the same dual GLP-1/GIP mechanism as Mounjaro, approved specifically for weight loss.
Once-weekly tirzepatide, FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes and prescribed under physician supervision for weight management where clinically appropriate.
A triple-agonist still moving through clinical development. We maintain a waitlist for patients who want access as soon as it is appropriately available.
Peptides are rarely the whole plan, but they address the parts a GLP-1 does not — muscle retention, visceral fat, insulin sensitivity and recovery.
A GHRH analog that targets visceral fat specifically — the deep abdominal fat most resistant to diet alone. Frequently paired with a GLP-1 protocol.
Derived from mitochondrial DNA, MOTS-c works at the cellular level to support energy production and insulin sensitivity — the metabolic side of weight loss rather than the appetite side.
A growth hormone protocol supporting deeper sleep, faster recovery and lean muscle retention. Matters because losing weight and losing muscle are not the same outcome.
Repair peptides that support tendon, ligament and soft-tissue healing. Relevant to weight loss because patients who cannot move without pain cannot sustain activity.
“The Dynamic Duo of Weight Loss Injections and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy”
For many of our patients it is not one treatment or the other. A GLP-1 addresses appetite and blood sugar response. Hormone therapy addresses why your metabolism changed in the first place. Treat one and ignore the other, and progress often stalls partway.
So hormone therapy, testosterone replacement and pellet therapy are often prescribed alongside injection therapy rather than instead of it. Dr. Southern walks through how the two work together in the video.
A smaller group of patients arrive expecting a GLP-1 and leave with a hormone panel instead. Weight gain in midlife is sometimes driven entirely by thyroid, testosterone or estrogen shifts that no appetite suppressant will correct. If that turns out to be the driver, we will tell you plainly — and treat the actual cause rather than prescribe something you do not need.
Most weight loss injections sold online come from a service that collects a questionnaire and ships a pen. It is convenient. It does not involve a physician who knows your medical history, and it does not adapt when your body responds differently than expected.
Treatment plans here are built and overseen by our clinical team, under the supervision of Dr. Ashley Southern.
What patients mention most is not the medication. It is being able to reach a person when they have a question — which is exactly the part an online subscription cannot replicate.

Our clinic sits at 1532 W Cayuse Creek Dr in north Meridian, just off Chinden. From downtown Boise that is about 11 miles — roughly 15 minutes on I-184 outside of rush hour. From west Boise or Garden City it is closer to ten.
MILES FROM BOISE
MINUTES VIA I-184
That location is deliberate. It puts us within a straightforward drive of most of the Treasure Valley, rather than at one end of it.

Most patients complete an initial consultation within a few days of reaching out.
STEP 1
We talk through what you have already tried, what worked and what did not, and what you are hoping to change. No cost, no obligation.
STEP 2
Our clinical team reviews your health history and current medications. If a fuller picture would help — hormones, thyroid, metabolic markers — we can run those panels in house rather than sending you elsewhere.
STEP 3
Based on your evaluation — a GLP-1, peptide therapy, hormone therapy, or a combination.
STEP 4
Regular check-ins to review your dose, manage side effects and keep progress moving.
Most of our patients have tried before — often several times. They are women navigating perimenopause weight gain that arrived without any change in habits, men whose metabolism shifted in their forties, and people who lost weight on a GLP-1 elsewhere and regained it when the prescription stopped.
Injection therapy is not appropriate for everyone. Certain medical histories rule it out, and we will tell you directly if that applies to you.
Dr. Ashley Southern oversees treatment at Alturas. In practice that means your care is directed by a clinical team you can actually reach — not an algorithm, and not a coordinator relaying messages.
Alturas Medical Weight Loss is at 1532 W Cayuse Creek Dr, Meridian, ID 83646 — about 11 miles from downtown Boise, or roughly 15 minutes via I-184. Patients also travel to us from Eagle, Nampa, Kuna, Star, Caldwell and Garden City.
Most common are gastrointestinal — nausea, constipation, reduced appetite — and typically strongest in the first weeks after a dose increase. Because we review your dose at each follow-up rather than leaving you on a fixed schedule, most patients manage these without stopping treatment. Serious side effects are uncommon but real, which is why physician supervision matters.
Appetite typically returns and some weight regain is common — which is why our plans address the metabolic and hormonal picture alongside medication, rather than relying on the injection alone.
No referral is needed. You can book a free consultation directly, and we handle the evaluation from there.
We are a physician-supervised clinic, not a subscription service. Your plan is built from a real medical evaluation, and our clinical team monitors your progress and adjusts your treatment as needed.
Yes — we prescribe the FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1 medications, including Wegovy, Zepbound and Mounjaro. Which one you receive is decided at your consultation, not before it. We review your medical history, what you have tried previously and how your body responded, then prescribe accordingly and review as you progress. That is the difference between being prescribed something and being sold something.
Not necessarily. Some patients only need a GLP-1 medication. Others have an underlying hormonal component that benefits from combined treatment. We will determine that together. Because we run hormone panels in house, we can check rather than guess.
Our programs are physician-supervised from start to finish. As with any medical treatment, results and suitability vary by individual, so we always recommend you consult your healthcare provider as part of the decision.
Yes. Our online weight loss clinic allows many patients throughout Idaho to complete consultations and follow-ups remotely.
Most patients can complete an initial consultation within a few days of reaching out. From there, your timeline depends on your evaluation and your goals.
There is a building, a front desk and a team behind all of this — and you are welcome to come and see it.
